Sunny, 40 degrees 9:00 AM
An easy 2 mile round trip to Cheaha Falls from the parking lot at SR 281.
The Chinnabee Trail gets enough traffic that there is no need for the white
blazes and on some places the path was worn down almost a foot from all
the hikers and with the recent feeeze/thaw, some areas were a little mushy.

Pinhoti Trail section 8 hike
Submitted by hermit11 on Thu, 02/10/2011 - 7:38pmTues., Feb 8
North to south section 8 complete
FS 500 trailhead clear, 30 degrees, 7:00 AM
No other vehicles at the parking lot and no encounters with anyone for the 9.5 miles,
even though the trail was well used and easy to follow. the marking was adequate for
even beginner hikers and my partner and I had no difficulty on any part with maybe
the only exception being unattentive on the fire break trail that comes out to the
power line clearing about half way to the first SR 281 crossing and not at first noticing

Al. Pinhoti thru hike
Submitted by hermit11 on Wed, 10/27/2010 - 3:03pmLast winter during the months of Dec, Jan, & Feb I day hiked all the woods trails
within the state of Al. Our home being only about 15 miles from Cheaha State
Park made it a little easier for trail head pick up and drop off.
The fall color has got me inspired to do a thru hike from Jackson Chapel, Ga. to
Bulls Gap, Al. 139 miles starting 11-3-2010. I have planned for 11 nights on the
trail with re-supply points at Coleman Lake and Cheaha State Park. That may be
a little tight schedule considering my style is more in line with John Muir's term
