In early September I finally made it to Providence Canyon. I had been wanting to go there for months. This place is out in the middle of no where. Literally. It's farming area and you don't really go there for much. But I really did want to see this place. I'd seen pictures of it and wanted to see for myself.

I'm new to this forum so I thought I would just plunge in rather than wait. And since I did not see anything on this park or the trails therein I thought you might like a little heads up.

I have inputted my kayack and gone both ways on this creek. It's a nice float. Slow and steady. No whitewater but sometimes you just want to see the large old cypress trees and try to get pictures of the turtles on the logs and the birds. If you head towards the  river you can take out at Hwy 43 in Chickasaw a few miles down the creek. Or you can turn around and come back to the park.
