Cheaha Falls

Sunday Feb. 13, 2011

Sunny, 40 degrees 9:00 AM

An easy 2 mile round trip to Cheaha Falls from the parking lot at SR 281.

The Chinnabee Trail gets enough traffic that there is no need for the white

blazes and on some places the path was worn down almost a foot from all

the hikers and with the recent feeeze/thaw, some areas were a little mushy.

The Cheaha Creek was flowing full with pristine water and the falls were not

a disappointment. We crossed the creek after taking a couple snapshots and

walked up the hill a hundred yards or so to the shelter before strating our

return hike to 281. There was no one at the shelter, but the ashes in the

fire ring were still warm. The only other hikers we saw was at 281 when

we finished our hike.
