First hike to Sipsey Wilderness
Yesterday I was introduced to the Borden Creek Trail 200 in the Bankhead National Forest. It was amazing. It took us a little more than 2 hours to traverse the 2.7 mile trail. We started our hike at the Sipsey Trailhead and ended up at the Borden Creek Trailhead. The canyon had signs of fall everywhere. I noticed the very large leaves on the ground. I could only find reference to the large leaf magnolia. I seen plenty of Holly and Hemlock. Although the water was virtually non existent, it was still a spectacle of nature that I will never forget. I was invited to do this hike with a friend that I have hiked with a couple of times before. It is truly my favorite past time. We only seen one waterfall and it was more of a water trickle right before the cave that i had to crawl through. On the way to the Borden Trailhead we passed this point and landed up climbing over this cave. It was the most treacherous and crazy thing that I have done. I have re-aquired the bug myself. I cannot wait to go again.
