Porters Gap to Scott Lake

Took a hike with my dog Libby to Scott Lake on Sunday 5/18.  We started out at the new Porters Gap trailhead, which appears to be about the same size as the first trailhead -- but set further off the road and up on a hill.  The new portion of Hwy 77 is open and carrying traffic.  The trail is well worn and easily found.  Only saw a couple of blowdowns in this section.  Many wildflowers out, including oakleaf hydrangea, blue eyed grass, indian pinks, and milkweed.  The lake was full and the spillway was roaring.  The smell of fish in the water was overpowering.  There was a really strange orange fungus growing along the trail as we approached the lake.  Libby and I both came home with several ticks.
