Providence Canyon

In early September I finally made it to Providence Canyon. I had been wanting to go there for months. This place is out in the middle of no where. Literally. It's farming area and you don't really go there for much. But I really did want to see this place. I'd seen pictures of it and wanted to see for myself.

I did not do the Rim Trail because I arrived in the afternoon and there simply was not enough time. But I was determined to go into the canyon's themselves. It's a little bit of a steep trip down but not terribly hard. Or I didn't think so. It was a bit warm but not bad.

Down in the canyon itself is amazing. It was wet while I was there but I think it had rained the day before. Maybe even that day. But it was well worth the trip and the hike. They call it the Little Grand Canyon for a reason. The colors are wonderful and it's amazing that the whole this is layers of earth and not stone of some type. Got pictures in this album.

Providence Canyon

This is a surprising little place... We did the backcountry trail early last spring.  It was a fun experience.  The colors of the "canyon" are astonishing.  I agree, the best views (and photos) are from inside the canyon.  Just be ready for mud in spots.

Providence Canyon SP is a "little jewel".  Thanks for sharing your trip and photos with us.
