Recent hike in Sipsey Wilderness

Had a fantastic but rugged hike this past week. 6 days and what a mess the storm of the previous week left behind. Down falls on Sipsey and Bees Branch were massive. Sad to see so many trees taken down and we are talking about huge old trees.Took over an hour and a half to get to the falls, but so worth it. With all of the rain all falls were in full glory. Hiked in on Monday (Borden was waist deep) the 25th,camped two nights on top Falls Rivers Falls then hiked 209 to area just east of Needles Eye. The spot we chose had Long Leaf Magnolia, Rhododendron, TiTi, Oak Leaf Hydrangeas, and Mountain Laurel in bloom. Sited eagle, hawks and a humminbird. Waters were down by Thursday and we waded (knee deep) up the Hubbard to Quillin. Rough going but so much fun to have the challenge. Weather was great dispite the forecast of 50% chance of rain. Only rained late Wednesday night. Temps were very cool at night.
