Staying in Shape

Well it is the time of year that I start exercising all of the muscles that have had a little break from backpacking. What do you do to stay in shape?
I pack my pack and take off around the block every night. One lap is a mile.

Run quite a bit. 3 half-marathons and 2 full marathons the last 2 years.

I didn't mean to scare everyone off. If it makes ya'll feel better, I didn't enjoy the marathons that much. Those training long runs completely kill your Saturday.

I've been bouldering. I'm actually in process of building a rock climbing wall in my garage as we speak. Been great for the upper body!

Just last week, I got invited to make a summit trip to Mount Rainier next summer, since then, I have been at the gym or doing some sort of physical activity every day. As long as you are moving you'll be in better shape than most! (I say as I sit in my big comfy office chair and type this!)

Mnt Ranier! Awesome! I went up Mt. Shasta last summer, very similar but Ranier is a little more technical. I'm totally jealous! Loooooots of stair runs got me ready for that!

When will you be heading up? I know the climbing season for Shasta was early spring / late fall. I know someone that went up Ranier mid July and said it was awesome.
You seem like an experience climber. Have you been up to 14k before?
Sorry so many questions. I'm just green with envy
It may be years before I get a chance to head out west again and bag another 14.

No 'real' climbing experience, but bagged 3 14-ers in CO 11 years ago! August of 2009 is the planned trip to Rainier.
