We also went on the Pinhoti to sweetwater lake and back as well but mostly just hung out and let the kids wade and swim:) WE were at Pine Glen(waves to all you hikers I saw!)
I also saw some Dirt bikers with hammocks! lots of them! Tell me ,what are they doing ?do they hike or just ride the roads all around the NForest or what? It was a bunch of them and they were very quiet and seemed to be on some sort of mission or something each day going another direction.Neat bikes.
I also found out that the campfire popcorn popper makes great biscuits as well! And my dehydrated spaghetti was good;that my hash browns will need to be precooked before dehydrating at least a little bit more than they cook frozen. Burritos do awesome freezerbag style and tomato soup with pepperoni and mozzarella stick cheese quesadillas are sooooooo yummy!
Cornbread made with yeast instead of the baking soda I forgot is better than I thought and makes twice the bread for half the supply!
They have no running water unless you count the many small springs in a few hillsides we just filled out cooler and water bag full with ahhh cooooold!
Privies stink (normal privy smell ack!)
Great folks friendly and of course the one bunch that made everyone miserable for a night and then went away:D
That creek was shallow right by the site and was great for the kids to just go swim and play without lots of attention and the dirt drive was nice for beginner bikers good places to hang hammocks and shady for tents. VERY Very comfy!
Saw some mountain bikers come in and camp , no car just bike camping(neat) wonder where they road ? think they road the Pinhoti?
went up the trail to sweet water lake found some great spots for camping and fishing and photos( I didn't take my SD card for some reason left that at home in the Laptop(brain cramp)
Ticks tho quiet a few and some gnats. But all in all a wonderful couple of nights and all happy to be de bugged and resting!
Goodnight all!
