Just to see how well everybody is getting around, I'd like to see everybodies maps/lists for the following questions. Mine are provided as examples.

States I've Visited
http://www.world66.com/my...AKYMDMSNJNYNCPASCTNVTVAWV
(AL, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, KY, MD, MS, NJ, NY, NC, PA, SC, TN, VA, WV)

States I've Hiked In
http://www.world66.com/my...ited=ALMDNJNYNCPATNVTVAWV
(AL, MD, NJ, NY, NC, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV)

Countries I've Visited
http://www.world66.com/my...worldmap?visited=CAUSDOPR
(Canada, U.S., Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico [okay, really U.S.])

Contries I've Hiked In
http://www.world66.com/my...ies/worldmap?visited=USDO
(U.S., Dominican Republic [briefly])
For the purposes of this question, hiked means walked to destinations for purposes other than mere transportation, preferably in a nature setting. Wink

How to provide your own information:
1) Post a list for each. -and/or-
2) Go to http://www.world66.com/myworld66/visitedCountries and http://www.world66.com/myworld66/visitedStates and input the data. Let the site generate the map, and copy the link, without all the HTML, and post it here.

might be easier to describe where on the map we have not been as far as states.

I've been a touring cyclist a lot longer than a hiker, so my list of states that I've biked in, and many all the way across, include all states EXCEPT those west of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky; and north of Oklahoma, Colorado, Nevada and California.

In other countries, I've been on a 2 week bike tour around Yucatan, Mexico, and rented a bike for a week, or two? while in Grenada on a Christian mission project.

Have not hiked except AL, GSMNP, Big BendNP, dayhikes in VA and KY, and my 8 day backpack just last month in Montana.

I see now that you have your states linked on a map Joshua, I'll check it out after posting this.

You can get totally away from civilization better hiking, but the logistics of getting to the trail, and staying on it for more than a week, is about as bad as going to a spectator sport vacation spot. On a bike tour, you can walk out your garage, get on the bicycle and immediately be "free from the ordinary", or at least you can go for weeks or months once you do drive or fly to the start, still camping out in out-of-the-way spots, seeing scenery that cars could see, but don't when they drive 55, away from the backroads, and you don't have to carry more than two meals worth of food most of the time.

this is a neat website Joshua

My cycling list of states is

The only ones I've been in  but not ridden a bike in are Utah and Montana, and Utah was just my 3 hour plane layover on the way to Montana. Enough time to take the free Mormon tour, but thats not really a dayhike is it?

Lets see if there is any state none of us have hiked , or been in at all ??

Josh, Upper east coast of Africa, Djibouti. Primarily a shipping/refueling port, in the Gulf of Aden. Quite interesting place of contrast at the time I was there in 1980. Capitol, Djibouti, a somewhat comparitively large port city in one area, surrounded by poverty and huts. Arid desert like climate. Borders Somalia, Ethiopia and some other litte place I don't recall the name of. Also had a small glimpse of Mombosa, Kenya. Part of my travels in the Military, thanks Uncle Sam. Wink

I'm amazed how well travelled we are as a group, although internationally, we seem to be lacking a bit. No real east/central Asia travel it looks like.

When I have traveled internationally, it amazes me that most people I meet have been to the U.S., but fewer Americans have been there.

For example..seemed like 1 out of 4 or 5 people in Ireland had been to the US...but I'll bet less than 1 in 30 Americans have been there.   Even more disparate for Australia.

My Countries map isn't that glamorous... The US, Bahamas, & Costa Rico.

Within the US, it's not terrible, but I still need to do some traveling...
