information needed. my job is sending me to Jackson and Meridian MS on Friday I was thinking about doing a little camping at Bienville National Forest over the weekend. Does any one know anything about this forest?

I don't know much about Mississippi, never hiked there... the following link is all I could find on the USFS website for MS:

Shockaloe Trail (Multi-use) Bienville NF

I believe there are some Mississippi guys on our forum though... what about it guys???

I do not have any personal knowledge.  But, MississippiRob at http://www.myspace.com/robbyherrin might be able to help.  He lives in La. but wiht such a trail name he should know something about Mississippi.

They apparently have a somewhat developed recreation area with camping.

Unfortunately, Mississippi is still deep in the fog of internet hiking information obscurity which Alabama is slowly drifting out of, and probably won't come out anytime soon. Alabama's National Forests are under-publicized, under-published, and under-visited, and Mississippi's are almost totally ignored.
