Flagg Mountain Trail Building - Fall 2008 Nov. 1-5

The Fall Trail Work is scheduled for Nov. 1-5 at Flagg Mt.
Because the section leader for Flagg Mt is helping to safeguard our country, we want to work his section of trail-Flagg Mt. Therefore, Nov. 1-5, we'll build new trail and extend the existing trail.
Flagg Mt is significant because it's the only piece of woods trail between the Pinhoti Trail and the Conecuh NF. If we concentrate on Flagg Mt. in a few week long work trips we could have the trail completed. Then it's just a matter of maintenance which doesn't take that much effort. The trail will be built on steep slopes with picks and shovels. It's slow going but well worth it when completed.
We are in the process of locating camping for everyone that comes out. As this develops, I will post the info.
If you have tools, please bring them, if not, we have plenty to go around!
If you would like to help out any or all of the days, please post or send me a message.

We will be giving out 10 Karma points for each day of work on these trails as well. These are really good projects to be involved with.

I've only worked once at trail building; what kinda tools are needed? Do we need to bring drinking water? I've got lots of tools as a farmer, all the way up to a DR brush mower. I used a DR that must be owned by one of the trail orgs at Geneva State forest back in the spring, but there were only two of us there; I was brand new, and the other guy, Mark Nichols from Daleville, was not all that sure where the trail was supposed to go either since the lead guy could not make it.

Add another 4 miles to the trail system!
The trails around Flagg have officially been completed! Cleared, cleaned, blazed and water side trails included.
Thanks Ednotmilkman for giving 2 days of your time and incredible labor to further this effort! Without your help, we would have had to put off some of this work until spring.
I got to spend a great 4 days camping, working and cleaning up the trail and helped build to catch pools for the water sources. I'll have photos posted soon.
