I still want to get someone who has ridden there to go with me before I make the nearly 2 hour trek down there. I was thinking Monte Sano in Huntsville or Oak Mt. I haven't been to OM in months and am surely ready to pass you on the ascent of Johnson's Mt......well?

Also, there is a group of trails just East of Anniston.....I need those under my belt as well as Cheaha.

Either way I'm down to ride Saturday.

Ok so.....My plan is to be in Tuscaloosa. Sean & Kim (Nasteelectro) and crew will be tailgating at the game from 9 am til 11 pm. I would like to ride either Sokol or Lurleen, get some stuff to grill out at the local store, and hang out for some beer activities afterward. Thoughts?

How about Sokol on Saturday, DruidCity is having a big ride at Lurleen on Sunday I am thinking of attending. Let me know what time you want to hit Sokol. I want to track out Mileage on a big loop at Sokol anyway. Two new trails are in the works that I have been riding. Not at all difficult but does add some additional distance.

What time you riding Sokol saturday? The "left or western" loop clockwise from the parking lot of mars, swingset, della raye, enchanted forrest, antique creek, troll and of course the main trail to the exit behind the white barn is 6 miles. 6.2 back to the parking lot. The "right or eastern" loop including all the remaining trails plus brutality / shangrila / cemetery across the creek is a little more than 5 miles depending on how you do the maze of upper / lower psycho, carpet, board hill, leg / brake check / lbc bypass. The "new" trails, actually reclaimed / rerouted old trails, add about a mile at the moment and are mainly connectors or alternate routes between the main trail and cemetery.

Lurleen is fine with me as well. Just realize you will either be doing a lot of waiting for me or I will be doing some solo riding. I don't mind being alone. Me and Procon did discuss Sokol last night but somebody get with somebody else and let me know the results.

So Lurleen it is. 11:30 am. After the ride, we'll meet up with some friends who are tailgating at the game for bbq, beer, and fun!! I'm not sure about Lurleen so if you need info on where to meet, hit up Slade.

I plan on taking time out from working on my car and riding Sokol sometime Saturday afternoon and attending the 1:30 "one mile ride" at Lurleen Sunday. I'm sure I'll run into ya'll at Sokol eventually.

Ok gang, lets all come together and have some fun on Sunday, November 4th at 1:30 PM on the
Tashka (Tusca) Trail at Lake Lurleen. We are going to have a one mile mountain bike ride that anyone
can do. Even Courtney said he may do this one. This will be a VeloCup points ride and for those who
wish to ride more than one mile you can earn a max points total of 90 points for riding 30 miles of trail.
Those wishing to go all the way will head in first and the one mile riders last. The one mile riders will
ride in one half mile and back out again. The half mile will be marked. There will be sweep riders to help
with those who are trail riding for the first time.
You don't have to have a $4K bike to ride one mile so dust off that old steed or borrow one and come on
out to have some fun, food and fellowship. Lets see how many we can get on the trail in one day!   Shocked)
There will be beverages and food available. Lets get together after riding for food and fellowship.
This will be time change Sunday and will kick off night riding the following Monday too.
Contact me with any intelligent questions.

We will meet at pavilion one, unless it is taken in which case we will move to another location. I will
leave word at the gate house where we moved to.
I will bring an extra bike for a one miler if needed. Tools will be on hand if your bike needs a little tweak.
There will be tea, soda, and water available but bring your own beer. We will have a chili cook-off also.
It doesn't have to be cooked there. I'm cooking mine ahead of time and bringing it in a crock-pot. I will
have chili with meat and also no meat for the vegans. Plugs provided for crocks and hot plates. Cook
up your own or open a few cans of your favorite and bring it. A prize will be awarded for best taste.
Chili contest rules are: 1) Must be suitable for human consumption. 2) Judge's decisions are final.
Larry Pierson wont be there so there should be enough for everyone.

The ride itself  will leave from the pavilion and proceed to the north trailhead. Those riding the whole
thing will go in first. The one milers will ride in last accompanied by experienced volunteers for one
half mile [there will be a one half mile sign] turn around and ride back out. It's ok to get off and push
your bike any time you want. We want you to have a good time. If you decide to go farther let a
volunteer know. As you can tell the ride is actually farther than one mile. The one mile is on the
trail and there will be some road riding to the trailhead. The whole ride will probably be about 4 miles
depending on where we leave out from.

All miles count for VeloCup points X 3.    4 miles = 12 points etc., up to 30 miles for 90 points. I have
not ridden the trail in a couple of weeks but I don know we have a tree down in at least one location.
Not on the one mile area. I will pre-ride the north trail head area for the half mile and make sure it is
clear.

Our Club President has said that he will ride at least the one mile is we can get at least 30 to show
up to ride. Come on now, we can't let him stay behind with the chili while we're off riding so dust off
those MTB bikes and lets get on the trail. The weather should be perfect for a fantastic day of fun!
