I'm going to try something different this weekend... I'm going to ride my rigid (no shocks, fork or frame) early '90s Trek MTB on Swayback. I'm sure it's going to be grueling, to say the least, but I'm up to the task. I'm going to appreciate my full suspension GT so much after realizing what people went through before shocks! I've been riding it around the neighborhood lately, working my legs out a bit.
On a side note, I've ridden in 5 or 6 BMX races at Oak Mtn. and in Prattville. I've brought home 5 trophies - 3 First place, a 2nd and a 3rd. 17+ Rookie class.

Have fun! The only bike I have every ridden on Swayback is a rigid GIANT MTB! Watch out for roots...

Well, I rode the 8 1/2 mile loop (the original) and it was very jarring, but neither me or my bike suffered any damage. Took about 1hr 10 mins. To put that into contrast with my full suspension, I did all 12 miles in 1hr 30 mins a few weekends ago.
My opinion: If you're going to ride a mountain bike trail, ride a full suspension!
