Its the Journey

« on: October 21, 2008, 09:02:39 AM »

we live Rurally but many of the hikers I know live in town in the suburbs and use hiking as a way of getting out in the country. We live in the country but with encroaching neighbors I find it harder and harder to go and explore the woods for fun anymore without having permission or making sure no one is hunting etc
just curious

There was no one answer that fit my situation...  I live kind of in a neighborhood, but its not really what I consider a 'subdivision.'  And it somewhat rural, to me, because its over 2 acres...  I very fortunate in that I also have 2 family farms that are really rural at over 50 acres each.  So, even if I cant get to a trail, I can go camp in the peace of the woods!

I live in a neighborhood in incorporated Birmingham near Irondale. Not quite sure where to place that one in that list either.

I'm sort of vagrant at the moment. Strictly speaking, I'm living in a rural subdivision, but whatever...

Subdivision.  Inside city-limits.  But we have a contract (rural) mail carrier (sometimes!)... go figure?

I live in barracks on a military base in the middle of a town of 750000 people(El Paso). Not exactly in the country.

Y'know, it's sorta hard to answer that? Selma's a small town (I have seen a lot of racoons, foxes, owls, and hawks in the center of town and deer at the facility I work for) in the middle of nowhere. The nearest large town would be Prattville which is around 50 miles away. That said, I live in an apartment building overlooking the Alabama River.

I reside in an apartment in the Greystone area, love the traffic of 280.........  However I own a home on 5 acres in Fla., Gainesville area, near the Suwannee and Santa Fe River which would be considered rural by Bham standards.

Sorry I missed it. I haven't been on the site much and I've been working out of town a lot as well. I should have some time in December and after January so hit me up and let me know if there are more work days then... I'd love to come out and lend a hand.
