Pinhoti bp'ing suggestions

OK. Here is the deal. I'll be meeting a couple of friends of mine from the Atlanta area and we are looking at the PT as our destination. We're hoping for a loop in the Cheaha area but it doesn't have to be in the immediate area. We'll be able to do 2-4 miles Friday afternoon, camp, then 8 or so on Saturday, camp, then back out on Sunday morning. It's doesn't have to be a loop but we'd rather not shuttle for very long either. The preference would be to camp on a creek on Saturday night but we're open. I'm looking into hikes now so any help or advice would be great. We've not been on the Pinhoti except for a dayhike or two but we're all experienced b'pers. Thanks and I look forward to the suggestions...

PS> I posted this on the hikingAL site too so if you already helped me out there then don't bother posting twice. Thanks again!!!

If you park at the Cheaha Trailhead you can hike the Cave Creek Trail South to the Odum Trail then NorthWest on the Odum Trail to the intersection with the Pinhoti then North back to the Cheaha Trailhead. Of course you could do the same route in reverse. Another variation would be to take the short connector over the ridge top from Cave Creek to the Pinhoti and make a figure 8 hike. The Cave Creek trail crosses several fairly reliable creeks. However, on that stretch of the Pinhoti you'll need to be prepared for a dry camp.

Thanks! I got the same suggestion from another person. Sounds like a plan!
