I'm planning on taking a quick trip on the AT just after Christmas.  Either in the Smokey Mtns or North GA.

Anyone interested?

Its looking like I'm N. GA bound.  Smiley  That hardest part of the hike is working out the shuttle logistics.

Unfortunately, my daughter is not welcome in the Smokey Mtns, just because she walks on all 4's.

Grayw0lf,

That restriction keeps me from doing any serious hiking in GSMNP. I wish they'd at least make the AT section dog-able. I understand the reasoning, but I'm really not sure it makes sense in light of the shear volume of human traffic. One good thing about moving back in Maryland is that I can leave him with family either in Maryland, or up here in New York, and not have to deal with the kennels.

graywolf,

I might be available to hike with you. Let me know what you decide for end points. I've never hiked overnight in GA, but am planning to as time and available hiking partners allow. I'd be just as happy to hike some of the Ga woods portion of the Pinhoti or the BMcK as the AT.

What about the other person talking about hiking the Chattahoochee NF? Haveuseen1 - said he did fly fishing in the CNF but wanted to backpack

Hoop Rat and BloodMountainMan on White Blaze are planning a trip after Christmas on the AT, I think it was from Dick's Creek Gap to Neel's.  The details haven't been worked out, but you could get with them to join this hike.

I'm going to do some of BMT or GA Pinhoti this Spring, but haven't even thought about details. I want to do both next year, so I'll have from Bull's Gap, AL to Deep Gap, NC all complete by the end of 2009

Going to Cloudland Canyon, GA with some local hikers this weekend.

Thx for the info.  I'll look Hoop Rat & Blood's trip.

Currently, I'm looking at doing Amicalola Falls to Deep Gap.

so are you dreaming of a white blaze Christmas too Graceless?

I told graywolf I'd go if I can, but it looks like I will have to work some of that time, or help a neighbor for at least a few days.  So its a big MAYBE for me.
