Its getting a lil' too cool to get the kids out for much hiking/camping, so I don't have much to post about. Kinda just waiting for some warmer weather then we'll see where we wanna go.

1st answer - about 5' 11"
2nd answer (more serious) - broke. I seriously doubt that I'll be doing much traveling until the spring. I have a Christian motorcycle conference in February, and I'm hosting a campout on Cheaha in March. Other than that, I'm being a monk.

You noticed too Joshua.

I've been going over to whiteblaze forum since there is apparently little worth mentioning in Alabama. I'm more of a reader and a "goer" than a "brilliant conversationalis t" as that old country song says. Anybody remember the tune and who sang it??

I found it by googling it but still can't remember the tune. "She let her walking do her talking, She's a brilliant conversationalis t"

I saw a few posts on whiteblaze from people AWOL from alatrails and added one myself.

T. Graham Brown...
Lipstick lips that flirt and flatter
Not a word that I hadn't heard before
Till I saw her coming through the door
She let her walking do her talking
She's a brilliant conversationalis t

The more she moved the more I was amazed
How gracefully she turned a phrase
Every thought so well expressed
Every line so picturesque
She let her walking do her talking
She's a brilliant conversationalis t

She had so many nice things to say
And I had never seen it put quite that way
Her nylons were whispering an invitation
Her high heels provided all the punctuation

I spent the whole night watching her
Thank you for using Top40db.com.
She had me hanging on her every word
She let me know what she had in mind
I walked her home one step behind
She let her walking do her talking
She's a brilliant conversationalis t

She let her walking do her talking
She's a brilliant conversationalis t

Didn't think you'd be a Blues type music fan....

That's why I never walk behind a woman on a trail....... I'm old but not dead !

I picked this one up on White Blaze the other week.

http://www.youtube.com/v/salUmiMy9RA&rel=0

I was walking alone through the lofty San Juans
With a heart full of light and a head full of songs
I was thinking of time and how much it will cost
To recapture the souls that we surely have lost

In the cities and towns there are millions who dream
But the traffic's so loud that you can't hear them scream
There's a heaven on earth that so few ever find
Though the map's in your soul and the road's in your mind

So many mountains before us, so many rivers to cross
Where is the wisdom to bring back the vision we've lost

Can we gaze with the wonder of children Into the deafening night
Has it gotten so dark that we cannot remember the light

When you sleep on the ground with the stars in your face
You can feel the full length of the beauty and grace
In the wild places man is an unwelcome guest
But it's here that I'm found and it's here I feel blessed

We all must really be bored.... get on a trail ! !

A home repair and improvements list from hell. In the past 6 months I've:

- created a new access to my attic;
- installed decking in said attic;
- installed two attic fans;
- built an 8'x16' shed;
- demo'ed our living room and then:
     - laid 400 sq. ft. of bamboo flooring;
     - painted (including the ceiling);
     - installed all new trim & baseboard;
- 50% done in installing new ductwork and return line.

I hope to be done by Xmas, and then...... backpacking! Can't wait to try out my new Big Agnes air mattress.

Just a little hiking because this time of the year is BUSY! My brother and I did get in a good day hike at Oak Mtn SP last week (in between showers!)...

Auwesman, Maui, huh?... I'm jealous. Grin
That's on my "Life Hike List"... maybe in the next few years. Let us know how it is.

I had a nice tooth extraction yesterday - very exciting.

If I tried to decorate this cluttered apartment, I'd kill myself. I'm doing other people's Christmas. I enjoy the local Advent services and the law offices downstairs has invited me to their Christmas party - which I think I will enjoy quite a lot.

I am currently enjoying a nice cold, but am planning to go to a waterfall in bankhead tomorrow if possible.

Was in Los Angeles for a while for work. (77 degrees and sunshine)
Hunting season is here and that puts me in the woods quite a bit.
Been restoring my 73 VW camper. It should be up and running again in January.

Kids Gymnastics,horse riding lessons, homeschool science classes, and work
Salisbury North Carolina for a company thing (that I took my kids too and visited cousins in the area afterward)
At home making soap and inventing a nice pocket for my hammock to hang in to stay warm in.
I have the week off from the kids but its so messy I doubt I will get in even a day hike:(
Ya'll I really need to get out and hike! I need to plan a nice long hike! I am thinking of starting the AT at CHeaha in the spring at making a good 4-5 days of it .Anyone want to suggest an end point?
All right ,I need to get myself out of this busy busy funk and move forward here! I am getting busy so I don't have to look at this house plan for much longer! plus I need to be paid!
Ya'll have a great day I am going to make myself enjoy it!

Drowning in family obligations with the weirdo's who don't like going outside. I have seen more ESPN since thanksgiving.... .but it's all over now! I'm getting geared up (translation- dieting and treadmill) to do a major hike on spring break. Now if only I could figure out what to do Grin
