I've a couple of articles where (soon to be) Pres O wants to use federal service to restore infrastructure, etc.

If you had input of the reborn CCCs list of projects, what would you add?

Me:
Complete the GET, Pinhoti and CDT. Add showers to a couple of GSMNP campgrounds.

Mine (not all CCC type projects):

1) Expand GSMNP into surrounding National Forests. This would require resurfacing US 129, as an ancillary benefit.
2) Build new trails in Bankhead & Talladega NF, including trails that actually go to the places I like to go. Wink
3) Repave Foothills Parkway, and repair that darned landslide area. If we really want to waste money, build a massive tunnel to connect the unfinished ends.
4) Repave Blue Ridge Parkway, and remove the white boundary lines from Skyline Drive.
5) Totally revamp Amtrak. This would include new rails for passenger-only traffic, and a passenger rail link through Canada to Alaska. Allow dogs.

Well, it does appear Obama is getting rid of the " Yes Sir  players " of the previous administration in the EPA.   I hope they reverse all the policies of the past 8 years

A few quick thoughts... in no particular order:

1) General trail maintenance in most NF and Wilderness areas.
2) New trail construction.
3) Rail Trail construction (so many abandoned railway beds are just begging to be converted).
4) Urban/Suburban "Green Spaces and Green Trails"
5) Providing bike and pedestrian friendly flow-zones into urban/suburban areas - bike lanes and pedestrian paths along major highways separated from automotive traffic.
