With today's warm temps and fog, I thought I would take a short trip to Sipsey get in some camera time. with all the rain Kinlock Falls is back to full flow and the side waterfall is flowing nicely.

Nice one of "The Chute!"

Looking at the flow over Kinlock, you must have had a fun time getting accross Hubbard Creek.

We stopped by Kinlock Falls on the way home from Thanksgiving at Smith Lake.  We were able to cross Hubbard Creek easily without getting our feet wet.  A friend went to West Bee Branch the same weekend, and had a difficult time finding water!

Those problems have been solved.

Gorgeous photos of Mize Mills Falls!  BTW: where is Mize Mills?  A Google search didn't help me.

Go to the Lower parking lot of the Spisey picnic grounds walk under the Cranal Road Bridge and follow Turkey Foot creek upstream there is a well worn path.

So Mize Mills is on Turkey Foot?  Interesting.  We've walked a short way up Turkey Foot, but I'll have to explore further  Wink

Yup, this is another one of the great Sipsey naming debates. Okay, really just me, but whatever...

Long story short, I call this waterfall Mize Mill Falls, because it was the former location of Mize Mill, and once I heard it described as that, it stuck. Some people call it Turkey Foot Falls. I consider the overhang waterfall at the junction of the two branches of Turkey Foot Creek to be the actual Turkey Foot Falls (actually UPPER, there is a small falls downstream), because on the Cart-o-craft Map (the Sipsey gold standard map) describes the upper branch to be Turkey Foot Creek, not the lower branch that passed under Cranal and features Mize Mill Falls. I've pontificated on this in other threads, such as http://www.alatrails.com/...ndex.php/topic,256.0.html and http://www.alatrails.com/...dex.php/topic,1045.0.html
