Saw this news report from WABI Bangor, ME about 2 Alabama Hikers who almost got into serious trouble on a ME hike, a good reminder to be prepared... know what to expect and expect the unexpected.

Very Cold Hikers
January 2, 2009
MDI - What was supposed to be a fun way to celebrate the new year in Acadia National Park turned into something very different.
Two people from Alabama called state police about 5:30 Thurscay morning to say they got lost while hiking from Eagle Lake to the West Face Trail.
The hikers told police they had no idea where they were, and they were not dressed for the below zero temps.
the two were eventually able to find their way back to their car, once the sun came up.
Officials it was a very lucky ending, but rangers did have to assist several other very cold people who had gone to the top of Cadilliac Mountain to start the new year.

How about the creampuffs from the Mobile Azalea Trail I saw 30 minutes ago marching in the inaguration parade ! Although they had plenty of room for something under those hoops.
