Howdy, I'm glad I found this place - what a great source of local information!

I've recently started hiking again after several years hiatus. I've been working on getting my pack weight down and getting back into hiking shape and building my endurance. I live in Birmingham and over the holidays I was able to hike in the Sipsey and The Chinnabee Trail as well. Had a great time.

I'm kind of a gear freak and love experimenting with new gear and just getting out and seeing new places. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing here. Thanks for a great site!

Goin?  I just got home from 4 days and 4 inches of snow in NC!  It was fabulous!

That sounds great!

We need to plan a trip soon. I normally do overnighters Sat/Sun at least once a month. Longer trips take a bit of notice to line up vacation days.
