I was just wondering if any of ya'll do trail runs. I signed up for the McKay Hollow Madness Half-marathon. And could use some reccomendations for trail running shoes, I wear fairly standard stability runners (Asics 2120s, NB 920, Brooks Adrenaline GTX). These will probably do double duty as hiking shoes too.

The guy I've been hiking with for the last 38 years has only recently slowed down. He used to run everywhere, so I also used to run trails. Some wear on the knees and heart have slowed me down quite a lot.

I went through a phase where I said, "I can still do anything I used to do, I just pay more for it," but I've had to retire that maxim.

Montrail shoes are great hiking shoes, super comfy out of the box and durable. I've abused/loved my pair for two years now. If I start to do trail running it's the shoe I'll likely go with. The runners give rave reviews on them. I think it's one of the few brands geared toward trail running, but they're not as widely advertised as other brands. *cough-northface-cough* This means you can find them for a deal at the online gear shops or locally.  I got mine for $45 at an AO moving sale. Originally $120. Madge danced out of the store and straight onto Oak mountain that day.

I run 3-4 times a week but never on trails. I think it would be a lot more interesting then just running around base.
