Hello All,

A small group of us are planning on camping last weekend in February at Sipsey. I thought maybe Trail 210 might be good for a try. The 210 and 208 are the last official trails that I have not completed yet, partly due to the length.

Has anyone done the 210 lately? I know trail wise it should be in great condition with the work of the Sipsey Wilderness Hike Club. But at 7 miles it will be long, plus a long round trip back to a vehicle. We are thinking of a 2 day 208-210 loop.

Any info or news would be appreciated!

Thanks. Eric

This is a link to the SWHC report on 210 trail maintenance last Saturday February 7.

I'm ashamed to admit that I am a SWHC member but have not participated in trail maintenance.

Thanks for the link for the trail condition. I was very disappointed to hear about the vandalism at the trail head.

Copied form SWHC blog:

"Saddly, I must report as we were driving in at the start of the day, we saw that vandals had knocked over the trailhead display case at the Gum Pond Trailhead and set it on fire. Fortunately, the blaze was spotted and reported by two hog hunters before it could spread too far. By the time we arrived, Forest Service firefighters were on their way to extinguish the flames. Anyone having any information concerning this incident should contact the Forest Service at (205) 489-5111."

Stuff like that gets my blood rising. Only a month ago, I was able to use that display case to get out of a hard rain and change into dry clothes for my trip home.
