I was wondering if anyone knows how I can make a nice hot cup of coffee out on the trail.  Of course I want something small so it doesn't take up much room in my pack.  How can I do this?

In the past we used the MSR filter, like this which you can use any ground coffee...  http://www.prolitegear.com/pl_msr_mugmate_coffee_filter.html

But after doing some research and reading we have settled on Nescafe instant coffee, its easy and good.

for 'real' coffee, the MSR filter is great, as is the Snow Peak coffee press (even Jetboil has a good one if you go that route)

for ok, but better than instant, coffee, Folgers makes coffee in the style of tea bags.  you just steep a bag or 2 in a hot cup of water...

I have a Keurig single cup coffee maker and they take little "K-Cups" which makes one to two cups of coffee. I thought about taking a few of the "K-cups" and filtering hot water threw themm but i have not tried it yet but just an Idea the "K Cup" probably weighs 1 to 2 oz a cup. Ill attach a link to show what they look like. http://www.bedbathandbeyo...rder_num=1&SKU=106796

Starbucks is coming out with their own blends in instant coffee in the next few weeks.

I tried the Folgers Coffee Bags and it was fine.

I got a little powder creamer and sugar packets all packed up for this weekend.  Grin

Folgers bags are great!  However, Taster's Choice has small, single serving "tubes" that come in a pack of 5 or more for pretty cheap.

I also take Splenda Flavors for Coffee. They come in tubes as well. There's French Vanilla, Mocha, Hazelnut, etc. Gives the coffee some zing!

We have been carrying the instant espresso. We usually mix it with a packet of hot chocolate for a mocha. it's pretty good that way.

Merlitta cone for me. Just be careful on uneven ground, because w/ grounds and water its a lil' top heavy. I've frustrated myself multiple times dumping over my morning joe.  Sad

I need to go see them. They are only a few miles from the house. I want to try some of the blends I can find in the stores. My fav. is the River Keepers Blend as of yet. I have a good friend that knows them pretty well.

OOOOH! This is neat. I've used a Merlitta cone for the last year, but have always been buged by its bulkiness. This solves that problem.

Did you order that filter from LL Bean??  If so I would love to get a report.  If it works well that could change my coffee drinking on the trail!!!
