Well what a snow fall we had here in Alabama. I got up and was on the trail by 8:30 a.m. at Turnip Seed and hit the Silent trail. Unfortunately the creek was running to high to cross at Cheaha Falls so I only got that far but it was still beautiful to be up there during the Storm. It was quite cool to hear thunder while it was snowing like crazy. If anybody wants to see my pics feel free to go look at my Facebook album.

I love Cheaha in the snow. Last year, I was the first person at the campout and no one else came until the next day so I was all alone that night when it started snowing. The next day the mountain was covered and I walked all over it.

Smiley

That's what everybody else got for being late (heh)

I was on Cheaha last years for the snow also and it was increadable. Our younger Scouts could not handle the cold. So We left a day early. Something about not listening when they were told you don't have a house full of clothes don't get wet, don't have a snow ball fight, don't get snow in your tent. Besides it's hard to stay warm at 14 deg. when you only weigh 65 lb . It was a great trip anyway. We camped at Turnip seed and hike almost to the top of the mountain.

Dadgum kids when will they ever listen? No I bet it was beautiful and I know you tried to tell 'em but kids are gonna throw the snow. It can't be helped.

I got up around 7:30 is on Sunday and put my clothes on to take some photos and thought okay I have the photos now I can go back to bed and it will be gone. Then the light went off and I thought, heck I'm dressed. So I cranked the truck and drove from Vincent, AL to the trail head after a cup of joe and two sausage egg and cheese biscuits. Layered up and took the camelback and off I went. So glad I did it cause I have never hiked in the snowy woods before. The solitude was incredible cause you know normally you see lots of people up there. I was the only one and it was awesome.
