Okay... I somewhat jokingly put together an actual list of waterfall rules. For years I've said that I had rules, but I really only had a few. Now I have 15. This is getting integrated into my waterfall report.

Pretty good set of rule. I just wish more (all) people could read and would follow them.

Rule # 1 takes care of just about any situation.

"It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it while you can, while it is still there. So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards." No, the list isn't a joke. The joke is more that I actually wrote them down. Normally I just spout a "rule" at people. Wink

I though that one is the the most ridiculous. The reason being that it is the most uncommon thing I seem to find now days.

Common sense is on life support. Then again, I'm pretty sure it never fully developed, as I highly doubt humans were ever subject to its rule. Wink

Nice list. It's hard to follow it sometimes because waterfalls are pretty and I want to get as close as possible.

A few weeks ago I made a trip to Quillan Creek. I was trying to get a better shot of Skyhole Falls on a feeder creek of Quillan. Well, rocks under a waterfall are slippery and I slipped and fell under the falls and slid under some more water falling. My camera hit the rock and got wet but didn't hurt it. I learned my lesson.

Well... The good news for me is that I'm afraid of heights. Makes following the rules easier. Wink

Oh, yeah, that would make following the rules easier.

When I get around high places, I get nervous.. like at the top of Hemlock Falls or the 100'+ waterfall.. I start moving like a snail and slowly back away.

Thanks. Yeah, other than getting wet and cold everything was fine and the rest of the trip was great. 4th trip to Quillan and going back soon.

Oog. I'm acrophobic, which is why I love heights so much.....the adrenalin kick, y'know.

If I were about 20 years younger I would be in the X-Sports crowd. My X-Sports have to be more sedate so they happen to be rock climbing and waterfall traversal.

As it is, though, I've aged and things like my grip are not what they used to be, so neither is my tendency to push the envelope.
