First time Pinhoti Hike

I've never hiked the Pinhoti and my wife has hiked very little of any official trail. However, we have recently made some two day test hikes back through the National Forest behind our house and I am happy to say that she has the fever.
She wants to try the Pinhoti and so do I. For a first time weekend hike (2 day), what would you suggest? We live in Oxford so anything on this side of the woods would be nice.

Unless you just want to stay strictly on the PT, I would say hike the Chinabee silent trail/skyway/P.T. loop near cheha. A great little hike with some destinations. You can park at the Turnipseed camp site and then it's a 1 or 2 mile hike to the Cheha shelter. I usually spend my first night for weekend trips there since I arrive late in the day after work and it's a very easy hike to the shelter.
That leaves the next day to enjoy the falls and the lake and make your way to Adams gap.
I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions! Welcome aboard!

My favorite stretch around that area is Adam's Gap through the Wilderness. It follows the ridge 9 miles to the Cheaha State Park parking lot. I don't know if that's what your looking for but I always enjoyed that section.
Edit: There are also good areas to set up camp along the trail.

But very little in the way of water sources...

1. How far do you want to walk/day?
2. Are you going to use a tent or shelter?
Since you live here, a good trip is, agreed, Chinabee. It's a pretty hike with lots of scenery. But usually crowded on the weekend if the weather is nice. If you want something out of the ordinary, park at the Turn around on CC Road. you can hike south to the shelter on blue ridge mtn. Spend the night there or at the hotel on cheaha. and hike back the next day. Another option would be park at Coleman lake and hike to Pine Glen and back.
I've been rambling these parts for 35 years. since I was a kid. My wife finally conceded to go hiking with me. I bought her a new pack, and all here own gear. She got the biggest pack we could find so she could carry the generator for the blow drier and hot rollers. Just kidding. She is not real sure about sleeping out in the woods with no one else around. I say she would love it. We use to car camp with a few of our friends before we all had kids.
Again, give me a yell. We can talk about some other good spots around here. 256. four 53. three 77 five Carl W.
