Hi! My husband and I are planning to hike the Alabama section of the Pinhoti Trail in April. We are looking at the maps and info on the Pinhoti Trail web page and it doesn't look like there is anywhere to camp in the first 35 or so miles of the hike (we're planning to start at Flagg Mtn. and go northbound). Is this the case? If someone can suggest places to camp or stay those first couple of nights (we'll be hiking 15-16 miles per day), I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I would suggest doing a drive by in your car of the road route from Stewartville up toward Trammel Motorway before you start hiking at Flagg to try to find a friendly neighbor-type out in their yard to ask if they know of a place you could put up a tent and maybe use a garden hose or faucet for water after explaining you will be walking by in the next two days.  It's always a plus if the lady does the asking anyway I'm sure you know; especially if you are a country gal.

Go down a few topiics to MinnisotaSmith trip report.  I left a link there to his postings.  They might help you.  I have some more thoughts that I will PM you tomorrow.
