Hello All,

Spent 2 days exploring around area off Trail 203. Walked almost the entire trail from Borden Trailhead to the Borden Creek on Thursday, and from Flannigan Trail head up the trail to Bunyan Hill road on Saturday. Wow, what a difference!! I had heard that Wild South was adopting Trail 203, and I was amazed at how much work they had completed. Whole dead falls were cleared away and the trail is flagged great from the start at Borden Bridge all the way to Borden Creek past the cave.

Great job!! Now is the best time to do the 203, before it gets closed in by the coming spring bloom! Especially with the great job this weekend by Wild South.

I do have a question if someone out here has an answer. Is the north trail head being re-routed? I have marked on the attached map, the path flagged is now taking. Even though I did not follow to the end, I did get up to the point where it came up to the old firing range.

So I marked the new section in green on the map. If it is being re-routed, where will the new trail head be??

Thanks. Eric

I'm sure the trail is being re-routed. Mark with Wild South told me they were going to move it so there wouldn't be a Borden Creek crossing.  There's no real good place to cross Borden and at any creek / stream crossing the impact on the creek / stream bank is always destructive.  So they are routing it across the feeder stream up behind the old firing range.

I'm not sure if there will be a "new" trail head or just where it may be for now but eventually trail 203 is supposed to go the central tower on Highway 33.  As you said, it's good now thanks to the work of Wild South.  It will be a great trail when it is completed.

"It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it while you can, while it is still there. So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards."
