We are going to the Nantahala this weekend. Driving up early Sat morning and coming back Sunday evening. If anyone want to hang give me a yell. NOC is having a big todo this weekend. Should be lots to do and lots of fun. http://www.noc.com/index.php/demo-daze.html    check it out.

We were there! Great weather, and ran into tons of north bounders making their way up the AT. I highly recommend checking that area out... even if its just sitting at the Rivers End restaurant watching people play in their boats.

It was a great weekend. Ran the river Sat afternoon and again Sunday morn. The river was great and the water was COLD! Couldn't have been better. We also found a great little campground just one mile east of NOC. Nantahala-Wesser Campground.
(behind the Gem Mine)

It is owned by Mrs. Pauline Dillard. It is for primitive camping only but has a nice showerhouse with lots of hot water. She is a very good host and lives across the road so she keeps and eye on things while you are out paddling or rambling. She is also a joy to talk to with always a good story. It has a general store about a block away for any necessities you may have forgot.
If you are planning a trip up that way, check it out. Carl W.

My wife and i camped at that campground back in 93 on a trip to the Nantahala.  From what i remember, it was a great area, nice campground, and not too bad a walk to the NOC for meals.  That's a beautiful river up there...
