Question

Three or four of us will do the last section of the Alabama Pinhoti Trail around the first of May starting at the parking lot on Hwy 278.  Can anyone tell me about the first secondary (Dirt) road on the Georgia side.  Can a  automobile drive up this road?  The reason is when we reach the AL/GA line we do not want to backtrack.

Are you refering to Jackson Chapel Rd or the unnamed dirt road that is shown on Mr Parkay's map only 0.9 mi into GA?

I don't even remember that first road when I hiked this. Jackson Chapel Rd is a public road so no problem with it.  I locked my bicycle to a tree on the trail just out of view of the road as my shuttle vehicle when I hiked this section last year.  Took me 3 or 4 ?? hours to pedal back to my car at PinkE Burns trailhead. Part of the return was on the Chief Ladiga railtrail which was a nice change.

Good to hear from you.  I was referring to the Mr. Parkay Maps and the dirt road 0.9 mi. into Ga.  Just got a email from one of the hikers that will be going on this hike, he suggest that we use the trailhead on Jackson Chapel Rd.  Will discuss this before the hike.  Thanks.
