I have a buddy who just just completed a 258 mile canoe trip down the complete length of the Tallapoosa from McClendon Creek in Paulding County, GA just before its confluence with Mud Creek to form the Tallapoosa, all the way to Fort Toulouse.  He did it in eleven days without resupply, without support (including his portages around the six dams).  He made seven miles his first day, encountering many log jams and a few beaver dams, 19 his second day and then averaged 25 miles a day for the remaining nine days.

He is.  We worked together for a number of years.  He's one of the most genuine people I know, a career mentor of mine and always the explorer.  He's the consummate outdoorsman.  I took him on one on my section hikes of the AT, 76 miles from Damascus to Groseclose, roughly 17 years ago.  I've got him committed to take me on a float trip.  I'll see if I can get a better link of his journal that's a little easier to access.

Take Care,

Tim
