Arrgh! Rip! Tear! Mangle! Roar! Scream!

(pant)

Okay, what is it about Indiana? It's like they don't want anyone to know about them.

I'm planning a trip to the Louisville, Kentucky area the last of July and, being chronically impoverished, I'm planning to, as usual, camp. Well there doesn't seem to be much in the way of camping near Louisville but the map shows several camping areas just over in Indiana. But there doesn't seem to be any websites for these camping areas or for Indiana state parks in general and the few websites I can find that mention them are very summary and leave out rather important items like camping fees. Calling the numbers on the Internet doesn't help because the numbers are no longer functioning.

Doers anyone have any information about Harrison-Crawford State Forest in Indiana?

Nope...

Was Indiana DNR/Division of Forestry on the list of bad phone #'s? (scroll way down for telephone # : http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/2856.htm

This is a perpetual problem with state forests in many states. Either because they don't want visitors, or because they don't have the funding, there is usually zip on the internet about them from the state DNR. Ditto on state game lands and WMA's.

Missed it before...

"Stage Stop Campground (Class C-primitive) camping facilities: pit toilets, fire ring, parking spur, drinking water supply in area -25 sites. Please self-register for camping at the campground check-in booth."

http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/4826.htm

Actually, that is one of the best state gov websites for a state forest I've ever seen.

Awright! Thanks!

That's what I needed. I think the 8232 number is the one that wouldn't work (I'll have to check the number at my office to be sure), but with the last website, I don't need it.

Smiley

It actually looks like a great place with all the usual draws plus caves. (Although I didn't notice anything about waterfalls).

Assuming my van and my finances hold out to make the trip. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
