Alligators? In north Alabama. It was funny how he was scanning the water for them.
I was thinking "he should be more concerned about the snakes."
I did like the boat until it started taking on water.  laugh
But compared to the pigs I see here, that little fellow was a baby.

Gators exist near here [madison/huntsville] at the Wheeler refuge south of town, but in the Piedmont area where he was filming it's too cold for them.

@ elbowman: I call bull___ on the response letter. How dumb do they think we are? Besides, I would personally love to go head to head with this guy in a "survivor" challenge. But I'm afraid he wouldn't like acutally sleeping on something below a 400 thread count all for the sake of authenticity. Oh, and I would have the challenge last a couple of weeks instead of overnight. Bear is really a pansy in my book. I want documentation of actual people who have been "saved" by his techniques. Not actors, real, civilian people.

seems like a standard response from the PR dept. I dont see the BS in it.

I had forgotten about this:
"Are there alligators at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge?

Although seldom seen, American alligators do inhabit the Refuge. In the 1970’s, the alligator population had been reduced drastically, so 50 alligators were released here in an effort to help restore the species which at that time was federally listed as threatened. An estimated 40-50 alligators currently inhabit Wheeler NWR and at least one active nest was located during the summer of 2001."

I can show you a gator south of Decatur on TVA property. They are all around this area just most people don't look for them.

I know Blackwell Swamp has some, and some canoe enthusiats at work have seen some large fellows as well.  I'm not sure they've been back since.  I'd love to have a photo, though.
