Did anyone on the forum go on the WildSouth Hike yesterday (8/29/09) at the Capsey Creek area?  If so, how was it?

I didn't.  I really don't care to be in the woods this time of year.

But I am curious about this "Mile Long Draw" that is described.

Not sure if the mile-long draw is the same place i know of, but there is a wonderful waterfall in that section that he is describing.  I have pictures here:

I think that this is the "triple waterfall" that's been described elsewhere on Alatrails.

I think so too.

Toph,

Those a really nice! My photos from that area were really awful, and all I ended up with was a fuzzy panoramic.

Yep, tough to get a good shot of both of the upper falls together and the lower one is quite the challenge getting back up out of the drainage.  Something I'll never attempt solo again for sure.

Thanks...

Doug, I think you probably are correct in pointing out where the Wild South hike began.  However I think your map shows the triple waterfall to be located at a point which is a couple of miles down stream from the Inmanfield bridge.  I think that would be beyond the 4 mile scope of the hike if it began where both you and I think it did.  I think they ended their hike at the Inmanfield bridge after hiking down to the bridge from the upstream side.  Anyhow, I wish I could have gone with them.  I plan on hiking extensively in that area of the forest during the coming weeks and months.  As Roy and Dale used to say (sing) "Happy Trails".

Yeah, me too.  That may be the closes I've ever been to being trapped with the only alternative to wade the creek out.  But it was February and cold when we visited.  I didn't want to hit the water unless I absolutely had too.

I now have Capsey Creek at the top of my list for upcoming hikes. I might fit it into a busy Labor Day weekend. I get the impression that two or three different hikes have been discussed here. It seems that the Wildsouth folks went upstream and hiked an area called the "Mile Long Draw" while coming downstream. And somewhere somebody posted a trail map (that I can't find right now) where they parked downstream from the bridge and went west to Capsey Falls. Do I have that right. Am I missing anything major?

I don't think you are missing anything major.  I think the same thing you do.
