I think I have finally perfected my penny alcohol stove system. After more closely examining the caldera cone setup I have discovered that that I like the penny system better and hey you can't beat free.  I will post pictures soon but I was wondering if anyone had any similar obsessions for building homemade gear. If so crank it out in this thread. I am trying to decide what my next project will be and would love some ideas.

Do you have a pot cozy? If not, make one.

I took two coke cookies that would lay flat. I cut each one down the seam so that I had two flat pieces of cozy material. I then resewed them together at one seam to make one large piece. Then, after measuring my pot and marking where to sew the next one, I sewed it. So basically I have one large cozy for my MSR Ti Pot. Of course it's a little tall, but I fixed that by cutting a disk out of "blue foam pad" that is the same size as the bottom of my pot.

Since it's two pieces, it packs fairly easy in my pack since it can be easily crushed. To use it, simply cook, slip the pot inside the cozy, set the pot on the bottom disk, cover the whole thing w/ my hat, and I'm good for a few mins. It stays warm and works pretty well.

Granted, an AntiGravityGear cozy isn't but $8, but this one was free! Smiley
