We are going camping this Thursday and usually camp near Borden Creek Trailhead. Friday morning we wanted to hike from there to Fall Creek Falls and then I guess back (we are only taking one car). Does anyone know a good hike and directions from our camp? If Fall Creek Falls is too close, we are up for going a round trip of about 5 miles Friday so we could check out a few other places along the way...

First things first, welcome to the forums!!!  Sounds like a nice hike to me,  I would suggest going down the eastside of Borden Creek. That way you go through the cave, but means you will have to wade the creek to get to Falls creek falls. There is a lot to see if you look, if you need more head up Cranal Creek and see the waterfalls there. Uncle Wayne told me about them and i must admit it is a beautiful area.  I sure others will chime in  with more information, btw if you don't have a Carto-Craft map get one from the Trading Post(Hwy 33& Hwy 36 intersection).

The shortest and easiest route is to just keep Borden Creek to your left. You'll come to the area where everyone fords the river from the Sipsey entrance, go right and Fall Creek falls is about 10 minutes farther up the trail.

Hello All,

I would also take 200 at the Borden Creek Bridge. The other side, while there is no water crossing, is not an official trail. It's harder to make your way down it, plus I personally think it is more boring than being on the other side of the Borden.

Trail 200 has the cave (fat man squeeze) , lots of nice bluffs, and is a wider trail.

The water crossing is not bad. By this weekend, it should not be over your knees. The banks are steep though.

One other route for your consideration:

Once at the falls, go back 100 yards and climb up to the top. There is a old road bed that follows Falls Creek back into the forest.
This road will lead all the way back to Trail 224 (former Bunyan Hill Road). Once you reach 224. turn right and walk .6 mile back to your car.
Me and my boys did this route last fall. It was nice, and better than backtracking on trail you had already done. You might want a map or GPS,
as with any old road bed, there are spots where it fads in and out of the forest. But if you follow the creek back a good ways, and eventually head due north, you will run into 224.
