5 mile trail need for scouts
«

I am looking for a five +/- mile hiking trail from start to end near Cheaha area . Looking for something the adult would like but not too hard for 12 yr old scouts but fun too.... I know I need to make my own trail right.
Have done Flagg mtn.,high falls, need a different trail.
Any suggestions?

Chinabee Silent trail would be good. It is about 4 1/2 miles from turnip seed parking area to lake chinabee. Lots to see & do.

Park at Cheaha, take Cave Creek south to cut-over to Pinhoti, and then take the Pinhoti north to parking lot and your vehicle. There is water a couple of miles south of the parking area on Cave Creek, nothing otherwise. But, if you want to go a little further, stay on Cave Creek to Odum, take a right on Odum to Odum/Pinhoti/Chinnabee Silent intersection where there is water, and then North on Pinhoti and back to your car. There is three sources of water on this latter route (avoutr 2 miles south of car, about 1.5 miles begfore you hit the Odum/Pinhoti intersection, and at the Odum/Pinhoti intersection. This latter route will be easily done by 12 year olds if you plan one night on the trail. Otherwise, do the first suggestion. BTW, the cutover is easier to find if you start out on the Pinhoti. There is a wooden sign that is hard to miss.

I agree with this author, this would be an excellent dayhike.

One part of my directions was wrong. Cave creek ends at Nubbin and then Nubbin takes you to Odum where you turn right or west to reach the Odum/Pinhoti intersection. Some maps do not clearly depict what trail you are on between where CC and Nubbin intersect and Odum. Based on trali signs, that section is part of Nubbin, not CC.
