Directions to Thompson creek trailhead?

Just checking with people who have been there..
I'm coming from the Warrior Mt trading post and heading to the Thompson Creek Trailhead. Is going hwy33 then taking Cranal rd (6) and turning right towards Kinlock the best way. Or is there another that I'm not aware of that's better/quicker?
Thanks, I just have not driven that far around before.

The route you describe will definitely get you there. It is not the shortest route in distance, but you will have more paved roads going that way.
I suppose the shortest distance would be to take 33 south up the mountain. Immediately as you reach the top of the mountain ridge take the first right hand turn onto a gravel road (FS213). This dirt/gravel road will take you across the northern side of the Bankhead to the northwestern edge of the Black Warrior WMA where FS213 runs into FS203. When you get to FS203 be sure not to take the right hand turn to the north. Follow FS203 and it will continue following the ridgetop and the road will go mostly in a southerly direction. Keep your eyes out for the sign indicating the turn to your left off of FS203 onto FS208. There will be a sign at that junction indicating it is about 4 miles to the Thompson Creek Trailhead. FS208 will take you all the way from that junction. This route has no pavement at all after you turn off of 33, but it is a fairly good way to go and a few miles shorter distance.

Here's how I do it:

Continue on west on AL 24 to the sign for Mt. Hope School. Turn left. Follow the map.

Most of the time so do I. It's the quickest route from Moulton. Watch for a large silo on the right, when you are even with it, the sign montysano mentioned is at hand
Montysano,
Did you catch the typo in the map program? Near #5 the community listed as Musk City is actually Muck City.

I think I prefer "Musk" over "Muck"

An alternative route would be to drive to the Borden Creek Trailhead and then take a mule ride over Bunyan Hill Rd and the Northwest Rd to get to the Thompson Trailhead.

Or park at the Kinlock bridge and "stroll" downstream
