Sharing the warmth of our fire

So far I have not heard of any reports of White Nose Syndrome breaking out anywhere in Alabama among our bat populations.  I hope that scientists who see an apparent link between the cooler ambient temperatures in caves further north with the outbreak of WNS are correct.  Perhaps due to the warmer temps in our Alabama caves our bats will be spared the ravages of this horrible disease.

Has anyone heard anything at all concerning any suspected Alabama occurrence of WNS?  Bat

According to the FS it hasn't been found south of southern Virginia as of July 2009.

"It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it while you can, while it is still there. So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards."
