Anybody do any hiking over in Tishomingo County, Mississippi?  Years ago I did some hiking in Tishomingo State Park, but I stopped going there after a terrible ice storm messed up the woods.  I suppose it has been long enough now, that the situation could be good for hiking once again.  Does anyone know?  Is there any good hiking trails at JP Coleman State Park?  How about other hiking areas over in Tishomingo?

With many of our Alabama caves closed due to WNS, is anyone aware of any interesting caves in Tishomingo Co or elsewhere nearby?

I took my kids around the "Swinging Bridge" loop in the State Park back in April and it was pretty clean then. It's been couple of years since I've been on any of the other trails in the Park but I don't remember there being too much deadfall to contend with.

I don't know of any other trails of caves in the area. Not to say there aren't any, just that I don't know of them.

Hello All,

I have spent several weekends at Tishomingo State Park. Nice park, it is an older park, and most of the campground and cabins show their age. I would call the area Sipsey lite. There are numerous hiking trails thru the park, a campground around a man-made lake, with a primitive camping area also. Cabins can be rented for the weekend, there is an extensive Frisbee golf course.

The main trail loops around a large bluff that has many spots which people use for rock climbing and repelling. The entrance is directly off the Natchez Trace parkway, which is a nice ride in itself.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are near northern Mississippi.
