12/19. Pinhoti Challenge dayhike. This month, we’ll be hiking a section of trail located in Section 4 of the Alabama Pinhoti between Bull Gap and the Horn Mountain shelter. This is the 11th hike in our Pinhoti Challenge series, and gains a rating of strenuous due to the distance and some fast ups and downs. Along the 10 mile trek, we’ll see Bull Gap Cliffs, Sherman Cliffs, the Heath Memorial, and many other great views from the leafless spine of Horn Mountain. After the hike, we’ll catch the sunset (weather permitting) from the refurbished CCC shelter at Horn Mountain and have dinner at the nearby Waldo restaurant beside Talladega Creek and the famous Waldo covered bridge. Make sure to bring a camera. Hiking boots a necessity, as well as plenty of water and a picnic lunch. E-mail for meeting place and time. Jay Hudson,
