I know this is Alatrails, but has anyone been to Big Sky, Montana? My wife and I along with my parents are headed there Dec. 12-18. We plan on skiing Big Sky and Moonlight Basin as well as snowmobile Yellowstone NP. I have been skiing since I could walk, but as for my wife this will be her first time. Any advice on other activities or must see sights?

I have been to Glacier National Park 4 or 5 times.  Hands down the most amazing place I have ever been.  Yellowstone is fantastic, but I've never been there during the winter.  I can't imagine it won't be as beautiful as ever and you'll avoid all the crowds.

The October edition of Backpacker magazine has a 7 page article on the "Secrets of Yellowstone." It details some amazing trails. About 44 miles in Black Canyon. You should look into it if you can get a copy. If you can't let me know, I'll mail ya mine if you want it.

Yellowstone is amazing in winter. I went in January a few years ago and did the snowmobile trip inside the park and had a blast! Be sure to take a camcorder along to take video with. You will get some good photo Ops on the Bison and Elk inside the Park. Old Faithful is awesome in winter as well.
