I am going tomorrow to visit a certain spot in west bee and then back down 205, maybe through the king's cove area, or maybe to explore Auburn Falls and the shelter nearby if anyone would like to join.  I plan on starting at the Thompson trailhead at 9am.

Unfortunately, I cannot make it. It snowed, and while I have no doubt the roads are passable, I have no interest in dealing with the grocery stores this morning, so I have to go shopping and do my laundry tomorrow. Wink

Next weekend will hopefully allow for some hiking.

The grocery store was a completely nightmare this morning.  We had a little ice yesterday, but it's more wet and miserable today than anything else.  I need out of the house, so I'm hoping for a good long outing tomorrow.  I'm not sure what next weekend holds.

I'll be on 209 Monday through Wednesday. A friend wanted to see the Big Tree and E Bee Branch Falls. We'll be finding a campsite somewhere near Fall Creek. If you see us say hey! When we leave Wednesday morning we're going to hit up Caney Creek Falls, I haven't seen it yet!

I unfortunately will be day hiking.  I'd love to have a camping trip soon, but it probably won't happen in February.  I can already tell you bee branch is going to take you longer than usual.  I've never seen it as muddy as I did two weekends ago with Jay.  It took some effort to keep from busting tail in some spots.  I imagine it's in no better shape now than it was then.  I would love to hear a report on the presence of fire rings near the big tree, though.  Jay and I destroyed 3 of them last outing, one within 5 feet of the tree's base.

We'll bust em up if we find any in the canyon. I'll be taking the climbing route to Bee Branch, instead of the one that follows the creek. Shouldn't be quite so muddy I hope.

OK, it's muddy as hell out there right now. Jen slipped on the way out and broke a trekking pole, it's that bad. It rained on us Monday night but was dry Tues and Weds. Creeks were flowing well and the river was gorgeous as usual. The stars were out last night but it was FRIGID! Lot's of icicles on Monday but much of them were gone by Tuesday morning. We camped on Fall Creek Falls at the top of the falls. Some dingleberry has been cutting down live trees and trying to burn them. It was an awful lot. We also packed out a lot more trash that usual. I wish I get get a hold of whoever is treating the forest like their own domain. We only ran into two other hikers yesterday in E Bee Branch Falls canyon near the Big Tree. Doesn't look like any more fire rings are in the area. Good trip overall, just disappointed to find so much garbage and damage.

Okay... Assuming it does not snow (40% chance for Friday), who is up for Eagle Creek on Saturday? Probably 8AM or 9AM. BBQ afterwards.

Nevermind, I'm out. My big toe appears to have an infected nailbed again, so all that slanted walking is out of the question. Anybody going to be/interested in being in TN at any time this weekend?
