Found this article interesting.....

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – If you're planning a trek into the wild, you might want to pack jeans instead of shorts. A new study suggests that a layer of denim offers at least some protection from rattlesnake bites.

Jeans will double as protection against thorns, ticks and other bitey pokey things too.

They also offer outstanding protection from staying dry.

I generally wear jeans whenever I expect snakes, or around rocks, briars, stickers, and holly. However, as Carnot says, they are not the best wet area pants, and if anybody knows about wet areas... My jeans were so dirty from this fall's White Creek hike that they destroyed a shirt washed with them. Wink I did, however, slide down a talus pile, on my butt, on purpose.
