Delorme has announced that they are releasing a PN-60w with SPOT satellite communicator connectivity. Also coming out around then is TOPO USA 9. They are apparently also adding a new subscription level with worldwide aerial photos.

Ps... Pn-40 owners are getting track/waypoint save to SD in the spring. It is currently available on the 2.7 pro firmware, but that is technically intended for X-map users, not those of us using TOPO USA.

The PN-60 (which will apparently come in a wireless and non-wireless version, as in, no SPOT) is supposed to get somewhat better battery life than the PN-40.

The ability to save track files on the SD card is way overdue as you can use up all your internal memory fast if you forget to set your track points to a longer distance interval than 30 ft (which I use hiking),when tracking in a car , or even worse in a plane.  You can set it to record by time instead of by distance, but that causes lots of problems while stopping for lunch, or just taking a break.

The ability to download worldwide aerial photos will be great news for me as I enjoy taking mine along when traveling outside USA too.

That is an awesome feature. I don't need to blow anymore money on GPS devices.

The good news is that both the worldwide aerials and save to SD will be on the PN-40. One great thing about DeLorme has been that they tend to update their last-generation products when new features are added, so long as the electronics can actually handle it.

Okay... some bad news.

The new firmware update (2.8) for the PN-30/40 will technically be incompatible with Topo 8. That means that you'll have to buy Topo 9 if you want to use the new firmware.
