I have been thinking about purchasing a Thermarest Neoair. What is yall's opinion and is it worth the price?

Absolutely one of the lightest inflatables on the market and has a pretty good r value for the weight. We have supplemented ours wit a thin insulating piece of evazote foam from gossamer gear.

I have the shortest one they make. It's only 9 oz. Because we changed our gear set up shortly after I got it I haven't got proper technique down yet, but I gotta say I'm loving the dent it put in my pack weight. I sleep OK on it, still the same tossing and turning with any inflatable pad. I have to leave mine kind of under-inflated to get a good cushy sleep. Over-inflation makes it kind of hard and hurts my hips and shoulders. Stomach sleeping is best in it, back sleeping is good at first, but as the legs droop down the lower back can sway. Side sleeping is fine, but as it's been really cold the last few times I've been out so I've been scrunched in a ball; I have no idea if you can stretch out more yet. So, yes...it's worth it in my opinion.

Absolutely, especially if you are up in years.

I am one of the "up in years" folks, and am also interested. I currently use the Thermarest prolite 3 regular pad. How do they compare in insulation value / r value ?

Thanks for the feedback Bearleader.
I just upgraded to a 15* Down bag and we all know that temp ratings are subjective. Mine is a Western mountaineering and as most mfgrs do, they don't put as much down on the bottom side of the bag as the top. I may have to upgrade the prolite to the neo if it is cold on the bottom. Goin' to the A T in the Smokys in February to test the bag and New Hubba Hubba HP tent. Should be a sufficient test. Sounds like the comfort level is a plus...... I'm 50 ish.........

We got the 1/4" but honestly the 1/8" would be fine. I mainly got the thicker stuff due to stock issues. I can tell you this as well. This stuff will definitely stop you from sliding around. It has a very nonslip surface.
