2/20. Pinhoti Challenge dayhike
. This month, we’ll be hiking a section of trail located in Section 6 of the Alabama Pinhoti between Adams Gap and the Cheaha trailhead. This section lies entirely within the Cheaha Wilderness and/or Cheaha State Park. This is the 13th hike in our Pinhoti Challenge series, and gains a rating of strenuous due to the elevation changes and rocky terrain. Along the 11 mile trek, we’ll see outstanding scenery, large boulder fields, old airplane wrecks, and some of the greatest long-distance vistas anywhere in the SE United States. Make sure to bring a camera. Hiking boots a necessity, as well as plenty of water and a picnic lunch. There will be an optional dinner afterwards. E-mail for meeting place and time. Jay Hudson,

Man, I hate to miss that one, but we'll be paddling with the Alligators in the Okefenokee that weekend.

35 people on the hike yesterday. We had an amazing day hiking in t-shirts under the sunshine! We were spread out over the trail by about 45 minutes from 9:30 to 4:45. Wilderness First Aid once again got a work-out as once person bashed her head on the rocks, later requiring some stitches. All went smoothly.

How come when we took breaks, we would stop right in the middle of the trail? I saw several other hikers that had to go out of their way to go around us...

Who is "we?" I don't recall seeing you there, although it would've been the highlight of my weekend to see your shining smile.

Are you hiking under aliases these days? Witness Protection Program?
Addition: To the rude hiker (who had red hair) who mumbled in an irritated tone as she walked past us in the opposite direction & who was obviously more worried about our being “
camped out in the middle of the trail
" than the serious injury to which we were tending, we appreciate your concern. The injured person required numerous internal and external stitches, and was being checked for a concussion and orbital fracture. She was laid out fully on the ground in the middle of the trail. It was an extremely fluid situation. A human life was on the line. If we ruined your day, we apologize.
Additional addition: Is it really wise to wear a skirt on the trail?
