Random post for fun.  What makes you you?  Name your 3 favorite non essential items, or something that makes you stand out a bit on a trail!

1.  Noxubee Wildlife Refuge hat
2.  My "Dick Clark" hiking stick, as it never seems to age,
3.  Hohner Special 20, key of C

I'm usually carrying an MP3 player, a journal and a book. Right now my trail books include The Lost City of Z, various Firefox series books, The Once and Future King and some others.

O.o

Funny considering what I am, but I can't think of a thing that would make me stand out on the trail. In fact, I'm stuck/blessed with the blessing/curse of being socially invisible.

I consider #1 and #2 to be absolute essentials. Wink

Non-essentials? Publix "Sharks" fruit snacks, my hat (Indie/Outback style, brown, actually hat #2 as old version smelled like shrimp [don't ask] and turned orange), and plastic baggies for my camera gear.

Thats probably true for me as well. Ive always brought a camera on my trips but i find myself more frequently leaving extras socks and food out so I have room for my equipment.

i guess the non-essentials would be

a book to read at night
a flask of whiskey on those cold nights, sometimes in the morning coffee as well Wink
flip flops for camp comfort
